Lets just get this out of the way right from the start, no, Sega still hasn’t announced any plans to bring Phantasy Star Online 2 to North America or Europe.
Now that about half of you have left what has Sega had to say about one of their most popular games Westerners have never had? Well, to begin with they’re releasing the game on the Playstation 4 in Japan only. It will begin closed beta sometime in the second half of February 2016, with no exact date set. The game will be free and not require a Playstation Plus account. But if you do have a Playstation Plus account you will receive unspecified bonuses and be able to sync your account across all platforms.
But Playstation 4 wasn’t the only announcement Sega made during the livestream, they also revealed that several updates for Phantasy Star Online are coming. The first titled Reborn: Episode 4 will be released on January 27th and include a new playable class.
The Summoner will be able to summon pets which can buff the owner as well as attack. Though one of the pets doesn’t attack and instead taunts enemies, gathering them together to make it easier for player AOE attacks.
Players will also be able to travel to Earth! As is common, a new planet will be added to Phantasy Star Online 2, this time it will be Earth. It will focus on Japan in the year 2028.
